Madhuri Dixit
Madhuri was an Indian actress who has gained recognition for her performance in Hum Aapke Hain Koun and Beta Saajan. The actress was initially famous for her role in Tezaab from the 1980s where she co-starred along with an established actor Anil Koopor. Her next appearance on the screen was in Dil with Aamir. As a young teenager in Mumbai's middle-class, she began to learn how to dance. At the age of 16, she began acting and was a victim for a few years because most of her first films were failures. Then, she discovered success with Indian filmmaking and rose to the top. Following her marriage she had a break in her career before re-entering the industry. More recently she played an integral character in the film Gulaab Gang which was about the struggles of women living in India. Dixit was nominated fifteen times for Filmfare Awards. She won eight of them. Padma Shri was awarded to her, which is the fourth-highest civil honour in India. The award was also given to her for her work in the field of social work.
